The Tricky Part of Doing Tricky Things in your Data Model

We’ve mastered the basics of basic data model and database design patterns, but what happens when you or a teammate wants to use THIS ONE WEIRD TRICK to improve on your design? Have you just discovered a brilliant new trick that no one else has ever thought of? Or will your new design cost you more, take on more risk and cause all kinds of pain for both IT and your business users?

We’ll demo tricks that we’ve seen in our database design reviews and show you how they work and talk about the trade-offs for using them. You’ learn about: Building a database engine inside your database, Implementing Hierarchies, Dealing with data structures that don’t do as well in RDBMSs, Generating code out of the database, Optimizing the developer versus the data or the app, Using design patterns that don’t reflect modern architectures and tools, …and a lot more.

Bring your own data modeling / database design tricks and we’ll go over the Cost, Benefits, and Risks of each.

    DAMA Members and Friends:

SQL Saturday is a one-day free conference for Data Platform professionals held on a Saturday throughout the world. SQL Saturday provides a unique opportunity to learn and grow one's career; as far as we know it's the only conference which offers full day of free training and learning.

Full day pre-conference workshops available March 29th

It is a conference by the community - for the community.

No other conferences exist where speakers from all over the world travel at their own expense to share their knowledge and expertise with the community.

Cincinnati hosted its first ever SQL Saturday in 2018 in partnership with The University of Cincinnati. The event was a great success. We had 250 attendees and 37 great sessions and the feedback and support we got was amazing.

Open the Link to the SQL Saturday Cincinnati <---Here.

It is scheduled for March 29/30, 2019.

We are again partnering with The University of Cincinnati and the event will be hosted at the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services.

As this event is for the community, we would like to have some local speakers speak at our SQL Saturday.
